About The Flacks
Tim, Bridgette, Madeline, 4, and Eli, 19 months, live in Memphis, Tenn. The family became advocates for Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center when Madeline was 10 months old and diagnosed with four congenital heart defects.
Shortly after diagnosis, Madeline underwent open heart surgery to repair a large hole in her heart. In the ICU, as doctors gathered around her bed, she lifted her tiny hand attached with IVs and tubes to wave to them. That same strong spirit shines everyday! Later, Madeline developed a feeding disorder that was also treated at Le Bonheur through the placement of a feeding tube and feeding therapy. Madeline’s feeding tube was removed and she now eats like a typical 4 year old. She is currently being treated with medication for her heart conditions. Madeline enjoys swimming, creating art projects, singing, learning ballet and playing with her baby brother. The people at Le Bonheur go above and beyond their duties to form relationships with the families and children being treated. Because of that unique care given, Madeline enjoys an active life.
Tim and Bridgette serve on Le Bonheur’s Family Partner’s Council, a group that advises the hospital on ways to improve quality and involve the entire family in a patient’s care.
