Each year, Le Bonheur Children's Hospital treats nearly 40 children who drown or nearly drown in pools, ponds or other bodies of water. An event hosted by Make a Splash Mid-South, Le Bonheur and Safe Kids Mid-South aims to arm parents and other caregivers with the skills and knowledge of how to perform CPR.
On Saturday, May 22, three FREE Family and Freinds CPR sessions will be held in Rash Hall at Christ United Methodist Church at 4488 Poplar Avenue. Sessions are from 9- 10 am, 11- 12 noon or 1-2 pm.
Please pre-register in advance by emailing helmss@lebonheur.org or calling 901-287-5992. Let us know your name, contact information, how many will attend and what session. Walk-ins are also welcome. Dress comfortably and bring a towel or something on which to kneel.
As swimmimg pools open for the summer, it is important to remind parents and caregivers about ways to protect children. Safe Kids Mid-South recommends learning CPR- it can truly save a life. And another important measure is to designate a 'Water Watcher'- make sure a responsible adult always has their eyes on the children.
Register today for the FREE Family and Friends CPR today! Make it a Safe Kids summer!
