Statement Regarding First Lady Visit

Le Bonheur Children's received word from the White House today that First Lady Michelle Obama will not be attending our Grand Opening Celebration this June. Le Bonheur launched a public campaign in the Fall of 2009 asking the First Lady to attend the hospital event.

Mrs. Obama's passion is children's healthcare issues, and we commend her for her efforts to advocate for obesity and other issues surrounding children. She and her staff were gracious and cooperative throughout our campaign, and we thank them for responding to our efforts.

The Associates, physicians, patients and families of Le Bonheur are looking forward to a spectacular celebration of our new hospital this summer, on June 15.

Le Bonheur Children's is also sincerely grateful for the support of the Memphis and surrounding communities who have rallied around this campaign.
