Anthony honored with lectureship

Le Bonheur Children’s is saddened by the loss of longtime pediatric cardiologist Courtney Anthony, MD, who passed away on Jan. 6. Dr. Anthony was the former chief of pediatric cardiology at UT/Le Bonheur, and he directed the outpatient training program for cardiology fellows, pediatrics residents and medical students.  He also served as the point person for the cardiology connection with North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.

"In addition to being an example to all physicians, Courtney has remained a crucial part of our teaching and clinical cardiology programs,” said Dr. Thomas Chin, co-director of Le Bonheur’s Heart Institute. “In his honor and in honor of his dedication to teaching and the academic mission of The University of Tennessee, we have established an annual lectureship, to be named the ‘Courtney L. Anthony Memorial Lectureship in Pediatric Cardiology.’”

Anthony provided many years of service to his cardiology patients at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss. Moving forward, Kevin Stamps, MD, will provide clinics in Tupelo every Monday. Thomas Chin, MD, and Rush Waller, MD, will continue their current schedule of seeing patients once a month at the clinic.
