Project Diabetes

Published On 01/10/2013

Project Diabetes addresses diabetes risk factors. Partnering with two Memphis charter schools, the program aims to reduce obesity and increase community knowledge and awareness about diabetes and obesity through education in schools.

Children in even school grades undergo BMI, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings to establish baseline data, so that Le Bonheur can tailor the best interventions.

Project Diabetes serves middle and high school students attending the Memphis Academy of Health and Science (MAHS) and KIPP Memphis Collegiate Middle and High Schools.
