  MEMPHIS, TN – Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center recenlty received approval from the State of Tennessee’s Health Services and Development Agency for a Certificate of Need for a state-of-the-art magnetocephalography (MEG) laboratory. The MEG is a clinical first for a five-state area including Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi. Le Bonheur will be the third pediatric medical center in the U.S. to house a MEG laboratory.

National Folic Acid Awareness Week 
  The Memphis and Shelby County Health Department and the National Council on Folic Acid recognize January 8 - 14, 2007 as National Folic Acid Awareness Week. The purpose of this health observance is to reduce preventable birth defects by recommending that women of childbearing age have a daily intake of 400 micrograms of folic acid.
