Le Bonheur supporters, elected officials, physicians and patients joined together to celebrate at a groundbreaking ceremony on Thurs., Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.
Le Bonheur Children's marked another milestone in the building progress of the $327 million, 12-story hospital expansion.
The groundbreaking celebration featured music from children's choirs and internationally known soprano Kallen Esperian. Le Bonheur officials honored those who are helping to build the new Le Bonheur. To date, Le Bonheur supporters have raised more than $82.5 million toward a $100 million fund-raising goal.
The ceremony was held at the construction site at the corner of Poplar and Dunlap on a beautiful, sunny morning.
A reception featured coffee, hot chocolate and chocolates was held immediately following the groundbreaking ceremony for guests. It was a day of sweet celebration for Le Bonheur supporters.
