We've made it safely to Nairobi after over 24 hours of traveling. Our flights have been smooth and we've met some very interesting folks so far on our journey. Many on our flight are involved in some sort of mission or charity work in Kenya, and all have been very friendly.

Different languages are being spoken around us though English is very commonly spoken. It reminded me of the joke I once heard: If a person speaks three languages they are tri-lingual, if you speak two languages you are bi-lingual, but if you only speak one language you are... probably an American. :)

We arrived in Nairobi at night, around 10 p.m., but the airport was still busy. Overhead, you could hear tribal music playing on the sound system. The airport was open to the air and was a little cool. It had begun to rain this afternoon so many of the streets were flooded going to our hotel.

Tomorrow, we meet in the morning as a group and explore the city a bit before we meet our Nairobi Hospital partners at 3 p.m. for an orientation and talk about our education strategies. So for now, we are sampling the local brew and getting to know each other. There are several team members from Minneapolis, South Carolina, and Boston.
