Psychiatry
Our medical psychiatric unit provides a warm and structured environment designed to address the interaction of all factors affecting mental and physical illness in children and adolescents. The 15-bed facility located within the protective confines of the hospital provides the utmost in security and privacy for your child and family.
As a component of Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Behavioral Health, the program provides simultaneous evaluation of the patient's medical condition, psychological status, social functioning, coping resources and educational abilities, as well as the impact of the patient's illness on the family.
The unit is staffed by fully accredited pediatric and adolescent psychiatric professionals who utilize a multidisciplinary approach. Drawing on the unique, child-focused resources congregated at Le Bonheur, the team includes specialists in psychiatry, nursing, psychology, social work, education, activity therapy, nutrition and spirituality. Our psychiatrists use biological, social and psychological factors when working with your child.
Family involvement is stressed in the treatment of each child. Multifamily therapeutic groups and individualized parenting instructions are all part of the seven-day-a-week treatment program.
