Each year during Safe Kids Week in May, Safe Kids Mid-South, led by Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, conducts highly visible activities in the Mid-South community to focus attention on preventing accidental childhood injuries. The observance happens in the spring because that marks the beginning of "trauma season" when more children are injured in the summer months. We hope that by an increased awareness, that these injuries can be prevented!

In 2008, the theme is "Gear Up For Safety!"  We launched a campaign to focus on motor vehicle safety, fire safety, pedestrian safety, wheeled sports safety, water safety and more!
