Each year during National SAFE KIDS Week in May, the Mid-South SAFE KIDS Coalition, headquartered at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, conducts highly visible activities in the Mid-South community to focus attention of preventing accidental childhood injuries. This observance occurs in May because it marks the beginning of "trauma season": when more children are injured during the summer months.

This year, the theme for National SAFE KIDS Week is "Safe Pools for Safe Kids!"  During the week of May 6-13, we will launch a public safety campaign to focus on safe behaviors in and around the pool, spa or any body of water.
