Hand Washing
For good health, wash your hands. Hand washing is important because it helps prevent the spread of germs such as the common cold, the flu and other diseases. It is also important to teach your children the importance of washing their hands. Hands should be washed after using the bathroom, going outside, before eating and after coughing or blowing your nose. This simple activity is an important step in keeping you and your child healthy.

Immunizations
As a parent, one of the most important ways to protect your child from some common infectious diseases is to have them immunized. Before immunizations, thousands, sometimes millions of children were killed because of diseases such as the measles. Most schools and day cares require records of immunizations before the child can start. Parents should check with their child's pediatrician to find out what vaccines are available and when the child should be immunized.  Click here for more information on immunization schedules.

If your child does not have insurance, there are several ways to get help in paying for the vaccinations. Ask your pediatrician's office for resources, or call 901.544.7708.
