Anesthesiologists put your child to "sleep" for surgical procedures. All of our anesthesiologists have special training in pediatrics and are experienced in putting the child and the family at ease. Before surgery, patients make their first stop at the Bunny Room, where they can select a toy to be with them before, during and after surgery. Once inside the preoperative waiting area, families can relax in rocking chairs and watch a video to wait for the anesthesiologist. Each child can select his or her favorite flavor of anesthetic - root beer, bubble gum and cherry are a few popular options. These pediatric anesthesiologists work with nurse anesthetists to provide a full range of services. All surgical cases performed at the Medical Center and at the East Surgery Center use the services of pediatric anesthesiologists. These physicians are also trained in pain management for children. Your child's pediatrician or pediatric surgeon can ensure that your child gets the services of a pediatric anesthesiologist if surgery is needed.
