Our Services include:

  • Evaluation and treatment of scoliosis and spinal deformities
  • Evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and tumors
  • Evaluation and treatment of congenital anomalies
  • Inpatient and outpatient management of traumatic injuries, including fractures and dislocations
  • Sports medicine

We work closely with the physicians of Campbell Clinic to provide comprehensive services in the following areas:

Club Foot
The club foot clinic is designed to address the congenital deformity of the foot which is usually characterized by a curled shape or a twisted position of the ankle, heel and toes. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to successful results for the patient, and many children begin receiving treatment within two weeks of birth. The focus of the clinic is to improve the child's movement and correct the deformity.

Congenital Hand Deformities
The congenital hand clinic works with children with hand deformities either from birth or as the result of an accident or injury. Whether the hand has an extra digit to be removed or is malformed from birth and needs surgical intervention for greater flexibility, the congenital hand clinic will meet the patient's needs.

Orthopedic Fractures
The orthopedic fracture clinic is the largest clinic at Le Bonheur. Working closely with the radiology department, this clinic sees approximately 130 children a week. The majority of these patients are seen for follow-up evaluation and cast changes after initial casting and treatment in the emergency department. Also, children may be seen in the clinic following surgical procedures, such as placement of K-wire pins and external fixators.

Spasticity
The spasticity clinic evaluates and makes recommendations for patients whose the muscles are affected by persistent spasms and exaggerated tendon reflexes, a condition usually seen in children with cerebral palsy. After an in-depth evaluation the team will present treatment options to the caregiver. Treatment might include physical and occupational therapy, botox injections, baclofen or surgical intervention. The team includes an orthopedic surgeon, a neurosurgeon and a psychiatrist and is supported by rehabilitative, nursing and psychosocial services.

Spina Bifida
The Spina Bifida Clinic is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of specialists assembled to evaluate patients and recommend treatment as appropriate. The clinic utilizes a holistic approach providing medical, rehabilitative, psychosocial and developmental treatment.

Spine
The spine surgeons at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center are some of the most well respected pediatricians in the United States. The hospital's spine program is dedicated to the treatment and research of pediatric spinal conditions. Children from across the country visit Le Bonheur each year for treatment.

The Spine Program brings together specialists in neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, neurology, oncology, pain management and physical therapy. Together, these experts provide evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for infants, children and adolescents with spine injuries, scoliosis, spine tumors and spinal deformities.

Pediatric Orthopedics Clinic
The focus of the pediatric orthopedic clinic is on children with orthopedic problems such as hip displacement, unequal leg lengths, muscle contractures and gait problems. In most cases, these conditions can be surgically corrected to allow the child greater ease of movement with less pain.  The orthopedics clinic is uniquely designed to address the needs of children who have lost a limb or a part of limb. The limb may have been traumatically, spontaneously or surgically removed and may require a prosthetic device. The amputation clinic is designed with the patient's future in mind. A properly fitted prosthetic is the first step in overcoming the loss of a limb, as it can bring functionality and greater independence to the recipient.
