Our Peri-operative Unit is commonly called the recovery room. In the recovery room, your child will wake up with a nurse by his or her side. The wait in the recovery area varies from 20 minutes to a few hours, depending on the procedure and amount of time your child was under anesthesia. When your child wakes up, they will find the toy he or she selected from the Bunny Room, and he or she will reunited with your soon. At the Le Bonheur East Surgery Center, parents are welcomed into the recovery area to wait for their child to wake up. While you child is in the recovery room, their vital signs are observed and your still "sleepy" patient gets a favorite drink while waiting to be discharged. Once your child is released, our nurses will provide instructions on how to provide care at home.
