The Le Bonheur Club is the founding organization for Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center. Formed in 1923 as a sewing group, the Le Bonheur Club was dedicated to making clothes for underprivileged children at a Memphis orphanage. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, this organization grew not only in size but in its ability to help children. It was the Le Bonheur Club that raised the necessary funds back in 1952, which enabled the 89-bed Le Bonheur Children's Hospital to be built. Today, over 650 Le Bonheur Club members complete more than 6,000 hours of volunteer service at Le Bonheur and raise more than $400,000 each year.
