Children's Miracle Network
CMN Logo

Children's Miracle Network (CMN), the alliance of premier children's hospitals, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping kids by raising funds for 170 children's hospitals across North America. Le Bonheur is the only hospital in this region who is a CMN partner.

The Celebration Broadcast, hosted by CMN co-founders Marie Osmond and John Schneider, is a fund-raising television program which spotlights children's hospitals and their inspirational patients. Featured in the broadcast are heartwarming stories about patients and their families. The broadcast is held every June.

The Celebration also includes entertainment by such artists as LeAnn Rimes, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Richie McDonald of Lonestar, Miss America Ericka Dunlap, Alana Grace and Brandon Morgan. Children's Miracle Achievement Awards were presented during the broadcast to actress Marlee Matlin, boxer George Foreman, physician Dr. Milton Waner, 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team captain Mike Eruzione and actor LeVar Burton.

In 2004, Le Bonheur was featured in this national broadcast by the introduction of Taylor Bell, a long-time Le Bonheur patient. Here is her story:

The advice column she authored for her school newspaper was called simply, "Ask Taylor." If any 15-year old in history has ever been qualified to offer insight and advice on how to cope with life's challenges, it is Taylor Bell. This kindhearted champion of the underdog has had 46 surgeries over the course of her life, has undergone a kidney transplant and has literally been struck by lightning.

Born with only one kidney, no bladder, and a host of related birth defects, Taylor underwent her first surgery as an infant and spent more of her first three years at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center than she did at home. Ongoing medical procedures and frequent surgeries have become a way of life for Taylor, but you wouldn't know it to meet her. She is an honor-roll student who makes friends effortlessly and puts everyone at ease.

"I haven't gotten Taylor anywhere," said her mom, Nancy Crumley. "We as a family haven't gotten Taylor anywhere. She's the one that has gotten us all through it over all the years - her strength and her fortitude. She absolutely just keeps going."
