Luis Campos, M.D., has joined the surgical staff of Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. Dr. Campos will also be a member of UT Medical Group, Inc., and will serve as an associate professor in the University Of Tennessee Health Science Center Department of Surgery.
“We’re excited to have Dr. Campos join our surgical team,” said James Eason, M.D., program director of Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. “We feel very privileged to have attracted someone of his caliber. His comprehensive training, talent and experience make him an invaluable addition to the Transplant Institute.”
Dr. Campos received his medical degree from LaSalle University in Mexico City. His postgraduate training includes work as an intern and resident in general surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. While there he also completed fellowships in multiple organ transplant and surgical research. His professional memberships include The Transplantation Society, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, Association for the Advancement of Science and the International Pancreas and Islet Transplantation Society.

In partnership with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, the Transplant Institute is centered on providing each patient with exceptional, individualized care, while focusing on making Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute a nationally recognized program. The transplant program began at UT Bowld Hospital in 1976. Methodist Healthcare assumed operation of UT Bowld in 2002. In 2004 transplant services moved to Methodist University Hospital and became the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. Since moving to Methodist University Hospital, the number of transplants at the institute more than doubled between 2004, when 109 transplants were performed, and 2007, when 233 were done.Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute is a state-of-the-art facility featuring two dedicated transplant operating rooms, a transplant clinic with telemedicine capabilities, and an off-site diagnostic center with a dedicated transplant area.
