We provide the latest in heart care technologies with knowledgeable experts and a network of service locations to provide optimal cardiac services for you and your family.
Throughout the Mid-South, our physicians, nurses and staff provide excellent cardiac care through one of the largest cardiac programs in the country. And it's all close to home.
Our patients benefit from a full-range of services, including both in and outpatient cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, minimally invasive heart surgery and open heart surgery.
Certified Chest Pain Centers
We are the first hospital system in Memphis to achieve the designation of Accredited Chest Pain Centers with Percutaneous Intervention (PCI) at multiple locations. The accreditation, awarded by the Society of Chest Pain Centers to Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown, Methodist North, Methodist South, and Methodist University hospitals, brings high-level cardiac care to patients in all corners of our community which is vitally important when treating heart attacks.
To receive this accreditation, Chest Pain Centers must demonstrate expertise in several key areas including:
- Integrating the emergency department with the local emergency medical system
- Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients quickly
- Effectively treating patients with low risk for acute coronary syndrome and no assignable cause for their symptoms
- Continually seeking to improve processes and ensuring staff competencies
Arrhythmia Treatment
The Arrhythmia Treatment Center includes use of the Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD). The center is led by Dr. James Porterfield, named one of the Best Doctors in America. Dr. Porterfield was also awarded the designation of Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society. This is the highest category of membership and is based on research, published articles and contributions to the field of cardiology. Additionally, Methodist South Hospital was the first hospital in Tennessee to use the Drager Infinity M300, a new wireless heart monitor, to efficiently care for our cardiology patients at their bedsides.
