Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
In 2008, Le Bonheur Children’s opened a 5-bed intensive care unit to focus on the unique needs of critically-ill babies and children patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.
Le Bonheur Children’s 10-bed intensive care unit focuses on the unique needs of critically-ill babies and children patients with congenital and acquired heart disease. A multidisciplinary health care team collaborates to provide the highest quality to our patients in a patient- and family-centered care environment.
Our talented multidisciplinary team includes:
- Cardiac intensivists
- Cardiologists
- Cardiothoracic surgeons
- Pediatric intensivists
- Registered nurses
- Registered respiratory therapists
- A variety of other pediatric specialists provide
The care team of the CVICU specializes in the care of all children born with heart disease before and after surgical repair, dysrhythmias, cardiomyopathies, and other acquired heart disease. Learn more about specific common cardiac conditions.
