Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Clinic

Le Bonheur Children’s Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Clinic is led by Dr. James Wheless, MD, and has official clinic designation from the national Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance.

Tuberous Sclerosis is a genetic disorder that causes tumor growth in organs throughout the body. Le Bonheur’s clinic is supported by the hospital’s Neuroscience Institute, which cares for various neurological conditions including epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders and other developmental disorders.

Wheless has published several academic articles on tuberous sclerosis and sits on the Professional Advisory Board for the national Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. He serves with Kate Van Poppel, MD, as medical director of the Le Bonheur clinic.

Through the alliance, the Neuroscience Institute can provide families with information to help them understand TSC and better communicate with their child’s school and teachers. Additionally, the clinic will host educational programs for families and help ensure all receive the best care possible.
