Our nationally-recognized Neuroscience Institute offers a full breadth of diagnostic capabilities, which is unique for a pediatric hospital. Technology like the iMRI enhances the information our team can gather which helps children and their families make the best decisions in treatment. We also provide a full complement of support services to the pediatric neuroscience program including rehabilitation services, child life and social work.
Programs
- Our Neuroscience Institute is ranked as one of the best children's neuroscience programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
- Our Pediatric Brain Tumor Program, a partnership between Le Bonheur and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, is one of the largest pediatric surgical programs in the country. Last year, our neurosurgeons performed 180 brain tumor surgeries.
- Our Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is an NAEC-accredited center that treated more than 1,000 patients in 2009. Some of those received care in Le Bonheur’s Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, a ten-bed unit dedicated to inpatient seizure monitoring. The team also conducts patient conferences to tailor diagnostic work and treatment to the particular needs of the child or adolescent.
- Our pediatric neuropsychologists can assess and treat cognitive changes like language and behavior associated with your child’s neurological condition.
- The Spine Center, in conjunction with Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics, offers comprehensive diagnostics, surgery and treatment of spine disorders.
- Our Sleep Center is the region’s only accredited sleep center dedicated to treating children from infancy to 18 years of age.
- Le Bonheur’s Craniofacial Program specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex craniofacial conditions. The multidisciplinary team includes a pediatric neurosurgeon, pediatric craniofacial plastic surgeon, pediatric orthodontist and other specialists.
- Our Tuberous Sclerosis Complex center is nationally recognized by the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance as a regional referral center.
Technology
- Le Bonheur’s magnetocephalography (MEG) technology allows our neuroscientists to locate sources of activity in the brain using non-invasive magnetic fields.
- Le Bonheur is one of a handful of children’s hospitals with a 3T intraoperative MRI. The intraoperative MRI, which is located in the neurosurgical operating room, provides high resolution images before, during and after surgery.
- Le Bonheur also offers several capabilities in diagnostic neuroimaging, such as electroencephalogram (EEG), computerized tomography (CT scans), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scans) and high-density electroencephalogram (EEG).
