Rheumatology
Rheumatology is the study of diseases characterized by pain and/or inflammation in the muscles, joints, or fibrous tissue. Rheumatic disease includes arthritis (infectious arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, etc.), back pain, bursitis, lupus, metabolic bone disease, soft tissue disorders, and vasculitis.
Our rheumatologists are specially trained in pediatrics and are experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and many other musculoskeletal diseases in children. Since rheumatics disorders are often chronic, we will work with your child over a period of time to help them cope with the changes these diseases have caused.
We also work with other pediatric specialists, including pediatric opthalmologists, orthopedic surgeons, nephrologists, rehabilitation services, social workers and pyshologists, to conduct research and interact on ways to better help patients.
