Le Bonheur hosts interns from special education classrooms in Shelby County in a school-to-work program that integrates classroom instruction with hand-on training and work experience. These interns rotate through Le Bonheur departments and learn skills that will hopefully lead them to paid employment.

As of May 2017, 27 students with intellectual disabilities or autism will have completed this program in three years.

More than 90 percent of interns from 2016 have been hired.
