Our main pharmacy is located on the third floor. From here, we distribute medicine throughout the hospital. We also have pharmacies located in critical care areas of the hospital, allowing pharmacists to provide a high level of oversight and quick, safe access to medication for patients.
Each year, more than 1 million doses of medications are distributed by the Le Bonheur pharmacy, and we have technology that makes medication distribution safer and more efficient. Our system tracks prescribed medication, preventing medication error. Only 30 percent of hospitals nationwide use this type of technology in their pharmacies.
Our pediatric pharmacy residency program is accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. The Le Bonheur and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center program is one of the oldest pediatric pharmacy residency programs in the nation.
We work with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices to identify improvements in medication safety, ensuring that we distribute 1 million doses of medication each year safely.
