Our staff has dedicated their lives to taking care of kids. Our specialized training in pediatric medicine means your child is in good hands.
Research shows kids get better faster when they are surrounded by loved ones. That’s why every patient room is private and has sleeping space for two family members.
We want you to take care of your child just like you do at home. That’s why our patient rooms have a bathtub, so you can bathe your child.
We’re committed to training the next generation of medical professionals. In 30 years we have trained more than 1,000 pediatric registered nurse Interns.
Our academic medical affiliation means that we teach new pediatricians, pharmacists and other specialists through The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
We believe art has the power to heal and reassure. The whimsical and playful artwork throughout our hospital helps families discover peace and joy during difficult times. Children can also select art to hang in their rooms, using our traveling art cart.
Each patient floor has a family room, designed for families and guests to gather. The room has coffee, a refrigerator and cabinets with snacks. They are also stocked with magazines to help pass the time.
A playroom for patients, siblings and young family members is located on the unit. Stocked with games and toys, the room helps children pass the time.
We know that healing requires much more than medicine. It requires treating the whole child in order to encourage recovery. Our certified Child Life specialists are part of the care team in each unit. They help patients cope with their hospital stay.
Family laundry areas are available on every patient floor, with the exception of critical care areas. Laundry supplies may be found at the nurse’s station.
Located on the 11th floor near the Family Room, the Teen Room is a special place just for teenage patients and siblings to hang out. The room is equipped with age-appropriate games, activities and other materials.
Part of Child Life, our pet therapy program gives patients and their families the opportunity to interact with a trained therapy animal. Pet therapy is used to increase patient motivation and promote therapeutic goals.
Le Bonheur is home to an accredited school program, providing year-round school services to patients in grades K-12. These services help your child remain on track with classmates and are provided at no cost to families.
Our certified Child Life specialists use play and art to help children deal with their questions and emotions. The Creative Arts Room, for patients and siblings, is located on the ninth floor.
