Le Bonheur Children's Hospital Names Kathie Seerup Chief Nursing Officer

Kathleen Seerup, BSN, MSHA, RN, NE-BC has been named Le Bonheur Children’s vice president and chief nursing officer. Seerup comes from Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and brings 31 years of nursing experience.

At Lurie, Kathleen served as senior director of critical care services since 2012, and before that was director of the pediatric intensive care unit. She has been a bedside nurse and has held numerous progressive nurse leadership positions throughout her career.

Seerup played a critical role in Lurie Hospital becoming the first freestanding children’s hospital in the country to gain Magnet Status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the only children’s hospital to earn the designation four times.

Nikki S. Polis, PhD, RN, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Chief Nurse Executive, who has also served as Le Bonheur’s CNO for the past two years led an extensive nationwide search.

“Kathie brings talent and compassion that will complement our dynamic team of nurses,” said Polis. “She is a seasoned leader and is someone who will continue to further the continuous growth and excellence our nurses have worked so hard to achieve. She is a true servant leader and Le Bonheur will benefit tremendously from her passion and experience in nursing.”

“Kathie has dedicated her life to caring for families,” said Meri Armour, MSN, MBA, president and CEO of Le Bonheur. “She is dedicated to continuing the great work we have already accomplished of fully understanding families’ needs and providing the highest level of patient care.”

“I am committed to assuring that we continue to grow and develop our Le Bonheur nursing team to fully engage and understand our families’ needs,” said Seerup. “We will continue to strive for excellence, partner with our provider colleagues and always be on a journey to further develop our nurses’ knowledge, which will allow them to provide the highest level of care to the children we serve.”
