Meet Our Neuromuscular Clinic Team

Our multidisciplinary team of orthopaedic surgeons, nurse practitioners, research nurses, occupational, physical and speech therapists, orthotists, social workers and consulting specialists provide a complete evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for your child. During your visit, you will meet with members of this team who will evaluate your child and provide a treatment plan. We offer a full range of services, including therapy, and if your child needs surgery, Le Bonheur Children's Hospital has expert pediatric anesthesiologists, critical care specialists and clinical consultants.

Dr. Spence is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic surgery. He is an assistant professor at University of Tennessee – Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopedics and serves as an active member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS), the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM), and Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine (PRiSM). In addition, Dr. Spence is a founding member and executive board member of CORTICES, a collaboration of pediatric orthopedic surgeons dedicated to improving the quality, safety and value in the management of emergent orthopedic conditions through education, research and development of optimal care guidelines. Dr. Spence has contributed to multiple textbooks, served as an editor for several journals, and is actively engaged in research that has been published in many peerreviewed journals. He specializes in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine, pediatric and young adult hip preservation, trauma, deformity correction, neuromuscular disorders, and spinal deformity (scoliosis).

Dr. Warner is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Tennessee – Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopedics. Dr. Warner is former chief of surgery at Le Bonheur Children’s. Active in numerous professional organizations, Dr. Warner served as the president of the Clinical Orthopaedic Society and the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society. He also has served on the trauma committee of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. He has authored textbooks, presented hundreds of lectures and journal articles on innovations in pediatric orthopedics. His research has been published in Clinical Orthopaedic & Related Research, The Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He specializes in spinal tumors, scoliosis, trauma, and congenital anomalies.

Leslie Rhodes is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and serves as an active member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Practitioners Society, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners where she serves in the Pediatric Ortho Sig group and the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. Leslie is actively engaged in research and has published in multiple peer reviewed journals including The Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics. Her specialties include neuromuscular disorders and scoliosis.
