Heart of Le Bonheur designer chocolates by Chef Phillip Ashley
Memphis-based designer chocolatier Chef Phillip Ashley created a signature chocolate to benefit Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. The Heart of Le Bonheur chocolates are sold in six piece gift boxes for $14.79 with $4 from every box sold to be donated to the Le Bonheur Heart Institute.
The Heart of Le Bonheur chocolate is heart-shaped with Le Bonheur’s famous stitched heart image atop the chocolate. The chocolate is flavored with orange marmalade, tarragon and honey, all of which have a history as being used in medicine or for healing practices. The stitched heart symbolizes the founding of the hospital in 1952, by Le Bonheur Club, a group of women who saw the need for Memphis to have a hospital just for children. The Heart of Le Bonheur chocolate can be purchased at Phillip Ashley Chocolates at 798 South Cooper Street in Memphis.
“I created the Heart of Le Bonheur to benefit and commemorate the great work Le Bonheur does on a daily basis to make a difference in their patients' lives and in our community,” said Chef Phillip Ashley. “The Le Bonheur Heart Institute is especially close to me as my mother was also treated for a congenital heart defect.”
