After 40 years of practice as a pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Jeffrey Towbin will retire from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) on June 30, 2025.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital has announced Joseph D. King, M.D., as Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology. Dr. King brings years of expertise and dedication to advancing patient care at Le Bonheur. Dr. King joins Le Bonheur from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he served as Vice Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia since 2018.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital has named Donald J. Bearden, PhD, ABPP-CN, its first chief of Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health. Dr. Bearden will be an associate professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The newly created position at Le Bonheur will help support families by incorporating psychology and behavioral health into the care of the patient and family.
