In-kind donations

Thank you for considering an in-kind donation to Le Bonheur. Please review our in-kind donation guidelines below, which highlight what items we are able to accept. For any questions, reach out to the designated coordinator.

Toys

Contact Child Life team at child.life@lebonheur.org or 901-287-6021. 

Items we accept

  • New, unused toys (original packaging, kid-friendly)
  • New plush items (unused, original packaging/or with tags)
  • Select handmade items (i.e., blankets, must be pre-approved)

Items we do not accept

  • Used items
  • Ride-on items
  • Large items
  • Latex balloons
  • Toys with violent themes or weapons
  • Items with religious or political messaging
  • Handmade items (i.e., cards for patients, crafts)
    • Cards for hospital staff may be accepted (check first)
    • Other handmade items that are sewn, knitted, crafted, etc. 
  • Items that smell of mold, smoke, mothballs or other strong smells will not be accepted
  • Check with us if you have questions about items we do not accept.

Additional details

  • Seasonal items should be donated 10 days prior to the holiday.
  • Candy or food donations are restricted to hospital special events and require prior approval.
  • Contact the Child Life team to coordinate large donations or group projects.

Donation drop-off information

Dropping off a donation: 

  • Donations may be dropped off at the hospital's main entrance at any time. 
  • Larger donations should be scheduled in advance to ensure staff and storage are available. 

Scheduling: 

  • To coordinate a donation drop-off, please reach out 5 business days prior to the desired day/time. 

Staff availability: 

  • If you would like to meet with a member of the Child Life team, please schedule your donation in advance. 
  • We cannot guarantee that someone will be available to meet you if a donation is not scheduled in advance. 

Donation form: 

  • We encourage all donors to complete an in-kind donation form. 
  • This form may be used for your tax purposes. 
  • This form allows us to express our thanks for your generous donation. 
  • To expedite the donation process, you may print and fill out the donation form before you come to Le Bonheur.

Food, Toiletries and Snacks for patients and families

We have needs for various food, toiletry and snack items. Please contact our Volunteer & Family Support office to discuss current needs, guidelines and delivery of donated products. 

Books

Contact Family Resource Center at frc@lebonheur.org or 901-287-7151.

Le Bonheur's Family Resource Center includes a small library of books available for patients and their families. New books are preferred; however, gently used books in excellent condition may be accepted. Books should be targeted at various age groups, from infants to adults. 

Books we are not able to accept 

  • Used books
  • Books with political or religious messaging
  • Books with mature or violent themes
  • Books with strong odors 
  • Some books may require approval from Le Bonheur’s Literacy Committee
