Sibling Playroom

Michelle Williams and Cameron Jeffries in the Forrest Spence Sibling Playroom at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital

Occasionally you may need to bring healthy siblings along during your child's hospital stay. The Forrest Sibling Playroom is a dedicated place that provides short-term child care for this purpose. The interactive environment gives parents and caregivers peace of mind, so they can focus on the needs of their sick or hospitalized child.

The sibling playroom can be used for siblings during:

  • outpatient testing
  • patient education
  • surgical procedures
  • patient/family consults
  • bereavement
  • intensive care
  • respite care

Who is eligible?

Siblings who are potty trained to 11 years old are eligible to come to the room. We request that the child be screened for obvious signs of illness by one of our nurses before coming to the playroom.

How do I refer a sibling?

Ask a member of your medical staff to complete a referral form. The form is located at the unit coordinator desk within every patient area of the hospital. Give the completed referral form to the playroom attendant. Please be sure to include the referring medical staff member and a contact person. The referral helps us to know that the specific situation has been evaluated to provide the best service for the families that we serve.

When is it open?

The room is open Monday through Friday, offering two daily shifts.

  • 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • 1 – 4 p.m.

Space is limited, please feel free to come by or call 901-287-6188 to check availability.

Where is it located?

The playroom is located on the Lobby Level of the Hospital, across from the Family Resource Center.

For more information, please call 901-287-6188.
