New patients are welcome at our clinic. Choosing the right pediatrician for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. Whether you are preparing to have a baby or are searching for a new pediatrician, we take care of children from newborn to young adult.

By selecting UT Le Bonheur Pediatrics Specialists, you can feel confident and comfortable that you have made the right decision. All of our physicians are board-certified in pediatrics. Browse through our physician profiles to get to know your doctor before your first visit.

What to Expect

During your first appointment, our doctors will check on the overall well-being of your child. We will explain everything in detail and answer any questions you might have.

For your first visit, please bring your child's immunization records, a summary of their medical history and a list of any current medications.

If you are joining our practice from another provider, your first visit will focus on establishing a baseline for your child’s health. We will review previous records, discuss any ongoing health concerns and ensure their vaccinations are up to date. Having your previous medical records sent to us in advance is highly recommended.

For newborns, your baby’s first appointment is important for several reasons, including monitoring feeding and weight gain, assessing for jaundice, and following up on their newborn screen. It is often important to schedule a newborn visit within a couple of days of discharge from the nursery, especially if you are breastfeeding or your infant has jaundice. Before discharge from the nursery, please contact our office to schedule your child’s first office visit.

It is a good idea for you to keep a list of questions as they arise to discuss with us when you come in for routine visits. We are glad to discuss any questions you might have.

Referrals

We provide primary care to children. Most insurance plans now have a specified provider list of specialists, and the primary care provider has a “gatekeeper” responsibility. Our office strives to make the referral process as smooth as possible. We want you to be able to see the specialists you need to.

If your insurance plan requires our office to fill out referral paperwork, please let us know at least one week before your appointment.

As our practice is part of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital — consistently ranked as one of America’s Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report — our providers work closely with the finest pediatric specialists and surgeons in the region and the nation. We have access to the most current diagnostic and treatment modalities, advanced technology and evidence-based care.
