Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

At Le Bonheur Outpatient Rehab, we work to maximize potential for every child. We understand that children make the most progress when they are therapeutically supported by the people who care for them every day -- at home, school and in their communities. We serve alongside families. We ask questions and listen to understand. We collaborate to discover where therapy fits in a family’s whole picture of support.

Individualized care plans are created with each family to address the most immediate concerns and priorities in each session.

Goal-oriented therapy

Le Bonheur patient Jade Walton in the rehabilitation centerWe follow an episodic care service model, which means that your child’s therapy plan will be based on goals we set together (for a set amount of time). Progress toward these goals will be measured continuously. Our team’s approach toward therapy is based on the latest and best clinical research. Therapy occurs in intensive, routine, periodic, or consultative frequencies.

  • Intensive
    • 3 or more visits per week for a limited length of time
    • For children who are quickly moving toward their goals and have urgent needs
  • Routine
    • 1 to 2 times per week or every other week
    • For children who are making continuous progress toward their goals and are ready to focus on specific skills
  • Periodic
    • Monthly or less often
    • For children who are using a skill with the caregiver in their daily routine
  • Consultative
    • As necessary
    • When the child is ready to perform a new skill, needs new equipment, or has a decline in function

Collaborating with the family

We engage families in therapy sessions and work with the child’s caregiver to support new skills. We ask that at least one caregiver participate during the child’s session, and encourage continued practice and interventions at home in between sessions. Ask us about available resources if transportation

or schedule conflicts are an issue. Studies show that children make the most progress when therapists and families work together.
