In order to facilitate patient transfers from Emergency Departments that have transfer agreements with Le Bonheur Children's, we have developed an auto-accept policy and guidelines. Auto-accept is the process followed when a patient, who meets the following criteria of eligibility, can be transferred to Le Bonheur Children's without speaking directly to an Emergency Physician for acceptance.
Eligibility for auto-accept includes patients with the following diagnoses:
- Foreign body in the esophagus
- Cannot be a button battery
- Radiograph confirms the foreign body is in the esophagus (not in the airway, stomach or intestines).
- Acute unruptured appendicitis
- Hemodynamically stable
- Confirmed by CT or US
- Fracture that needs orthopedic intervention
- Neurovascularly intact
- No signs of compartment syndrome
- All menarche female need to have a negative pregnancy test.
