MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital has announced Kerstin Gerhold, MD, PhD, MSc as the new chief of Pediatric Rheumatology. Dr. Gerhold comes to Le Bonheur from the Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine where she has been since 2021.
For more than 25 years, Dr. Gerhold has worked with children and adolescents with pediatric rheumatic conditions in outpatient and inpatient facilities. Before moving to Mississippi, Dr. Gerhold spent more than 20 years at inpatient and outpatient settings in academic centers in Germany and Canada.
Dr. Gerhold specializes in the management of chronic pain in youth. She will lead the growth of the pediatric rheumatology division and provide leadership across the division’s clinical, research, teaching and community missions.

Gerhold holds professional memberships from the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), Pediatric Rheumatology, European Society (PRES), International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP®).
Dr. Gerhold has moved to Memphis with her husband. In her off time, she enjoys the outdoors, art, travel, cooking, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
